Promoting the development of chess on the island of Tobago
To bring together players and persons with an interest in chess regardless of experience or playing ability in the Tobago schools and communities to promote increased knowledge and understanding of the game of chess. In so doing, provide an environment where the game can be played, taught, studied, and enjoyed as well as tournaments organized for those who are competitive
To provide the facilities to play chess, to organize chess tournaments and to promote the game of chess in Tobago. The society shall meet once monthly on the third Saturday at 3 pm with the exception of public holidays, or under exceptional circumstances such as inclement weather. The Society website is to be utilized to keep a calendar of scheduled events as well as publishing the Society bylaws.
The set of immediate goals for the Tobago Chess Society is outlined as follows:
To encourage youth training in chess
To foster the meeting of chess players in Tobago
To obtain the necessary funding to account for running tournaments, conducting training, chess equipment, as well as any other costs related to the efficient running of a chess society.
