To bring together players and persons with an interest in chess regardless of experience or playing ability in the Tobago schools and communities to promote increased knowledge and understanding of the game of chess. In so doing, provide an environment where the game can be played, taught, studied, and enjoyed as well as tournaments organized for those who are competitive
To provide the facilities to play chess, to organize chess tournaments and to promote the game of chess in Tobago. The society shall meet once monthly on the third Saturday at 3 pm with the exception of public holidays, or under exceptional circumstances such as inclement weather. The Society website is to be utilized to keep a calendar of scheduled events as well as publishing the Society bylaws.
The set of immediate goals for the Tobago Chess Society is outlined as follows:
1.To obtain a permanent facility to host daily chess matches and tournaments
2. To encourage youth training in chess
3.To foster the meeting of chess players in Tobago
4. To obtain the necessary funding to account for running tournaments, conducting training, chess equipment, as well as any other costs related to the efficient running of a chess society.
As mentioned the first goal of TCS is to find a home for gameplay and tournament.
Currently, chess in general has been promoted by a couple of members at the Scarborough Library Facility focusing on young kids; however, even though this is useful, the visibility, timing and availability of the Library for chess has been lacking.
As such, TCS has partnered with the Lowlands Mall to have chess hosted in the main atrium of the Mall!
This is great news since the Mall offers a more public access with parking to chess for all see and participate; chess should not be hidden.
For the Mall, we expect several benefits including hosting tournaments and encouraging new traffic to businesses within the Mall since chess is an attraction.

We are an NGO and we ask for persons to sign up and to donate at least $10 per session.
Persons are not limited in how they wish to support TCS which needs persons who can dedicate some time to monitoring equipment and hosting games.

The second goals of TCS is to encourage to encourage youth training in chess.
As such, TCS is leading in adding a consistent chess program across all schools in Tobago.
Currently, TCS is working with schools and particularly the PTAs in order to secure financial and operational arrangements to have chess at the schools.
Through this page, students, parents, and schools can register students for chess at their schools.
The arrangement is as follows:
1. The cost is $300 per student for 10 sessions per school term.
2. An instructor from TCS will pursue a chess curriculum at the School if more than 10 students register at the school. They will be given a stipend along with an assigned teacher/representative of the school to chess.
3. Based on the number sign ups and donations, a program of tournaments with prizes and media will be developed by TCS.
